Founded in 1991, The Institute of Professional Willwriters (IPW) was established as a self-regulatory body, to safeguard the public from unqualified practitioners and unethical practices in business. It is the recognised professional body which regulates and promotes the profession of Willwriting within the UK. Members must pass the IPW entrance exam, or hold an equivalent qualification in Wills and Estates from a recognised qualifying body. In order to retain their practising certificate, members must update their skills and knowledge annually through a Continuing Professional Development programme.
